Breast Cancer?

Yup, breast cancer. I was diagnosed at age 45 and it was a complete shock. It was the second time in a few years that breast cancer impacted my immediate family. Yet, I had no idea that most women who are diagnosed, like me, have no family history. I am fortunate that my cancer was caught early. I am fortunate to live in Boston and have access to the best care in the world. I am fortunate to have a husband, family, friends, and job that have been extremely supportive. My treatment will continue for years, but I am very, very optimistic that I beat it and it won't come back.

A silver lining of this experience has been the wonderful women who have reached out to me to offer support, because they know what it is like. I was able to provide that same support to my cousin Windy, diagnosed a few months after me.

I walk for Windy, my sister-in-law, and so many others who have faced this disease. I also walk for my niece and so many others who I hope never face this diagnosis. But, if they do, have newer and better treatment options. I walk for a cure.

I registered for the Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk because I wanted to take action and be More Than Pink®. I want to make an impact in the fight against breast cancer and need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.

Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. 75 percent of the money raised through the Walk stays in the community to fund local breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs. The remaining 25 percent supports groundbreaking breast cancer research.

Together, we are fueling the best science, boldest community and biggest impact in the fight against breast cancer.
