Q: Where does the money (donations) go?
A: Donations help Susan G. Komen get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. Funds raised through the Ride for the Cure support Komen's work to save lives through breakthrough research, advocacy and to direct-patients services, including through Komen’s Breast Care Navigation Program, Komen's Breast Care Helpline, Clinical Trial Information Helpline, and Financial Assistance Program.

Q: Where do I send donations?
A: Donating online is encouraged. However, we recognize that some donors prefer to donate by check/money order. These should be made payable to Susan G. Komen, memo 2024 Ride for the Cure and rider’s name, and mailed, with a completed Ride Pledge Form to:

IMPORTANT: cash should NOT be mailed - all cash donations should be turned in as a money order or personal check.

We highly recommend using the SGK Fundraise app to deposit checks to prevent such long wait times. You can download the app by searching “SGK Fundraise” in the app store on your Apple or Android device.

Q: Is my donation tax-deductible?
A: Contributions to Susan G. Komen may be fully tax deductible permissible by law. Please consult your tax advisor regarding the deductibility of your gift.

Q: Will I receive a tax receipt for my donation?
A: Susan G. Komen issues receipts for any donation of $10 or more received by check through the mail. Please do not send cash. If your donation is in cash form, you will not get a tax receipt. Receipts should arrive by mail approximately four to six weeks from the date it was deposited. To ensure you receive a tax receipt, please donate with a credit or debit card or write a check to “Susan G. Komen”. If you make an online donation using a credit or debit card, you’ll receive an immediate acknowledgement.

Q: Does the Komen Ride for the Cure® require fundraising?
A: Yes, all registered riders are required to fundraise. For adults the minimum fundraising level is $150 and for youth (ages 12-17) the minimum fundraising level is $75. All minimum fundraising amounts are expected to be met by the day of the ride, October 14. Check donations should be made payable to: Susan G. Komen, with memo: 2024 Ride for the Cure and rider’s name. Please see above for: “Where do I send donations”.

Q: Is there a deadline for fundraising?
A: Komen Ride for the Cure fundraising for will continue through March 31, 2025. All donations made on your behalf that are received by October 13, 2024 will be credited to your personal fundraising total for Fundraising Recognition. Donations collected/entered online after October 13 will not count towards a fundraising prize but will count towards the event’s fundraising total. Donations entered online through your Participant Center and Facebook fundraiser (if you created one) by the October 13 deadline will be included.

Q: When will I receive my fundraising incentives?
A: All fundraising prizes will be based on the total dollars riders have raised by Oct. 13, online and offline. In Person Top Fundraisers will be announced on Ride day, October 14 and receive their fundraising recognition items at GMHA. Virtual riders recognized as Top Level Fundraisers will have their recognition item(s) mailed post-event.

Prizes will be awarded to:

  • Overall Top Fundraiser (Platinum Rider)
  • All riders raising over $1000 (Gold Rider)
  • All riders raising over $750 (Silver Rider)
  • All riders raising over $500 (Bronze Rider)

Q: Is Susan G. Komen a nonprofit organization?
A: Susan G. Komen is a public charity exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Q: How will the funds raised through my fundraiser be used?
A: Susan G. Komen® is extremely proud of the financial stewardship we offer for the donations our supporters give. We are accredited by the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance. Donations help support breast cancer research initiatives, treatment, education, and community health programs.
