Q. When is the Komen Vermont Virtual Ride for the Cure?
A. The Vermont Virtual Ride for the Cure is Monday, October 12, 2020. Registration will be open through 5 PM day of event.
Q. Where is the Ride?
A. This year's Ride for the Cure event is virtual. Riders are invited to #RideWhereYouAre .
Q. Is there an age requirement?
A. Due to the virtual nature of this year's event, there is not an age requirement.
Q. How much is the registration fee?
A. There is no registration fee for the 2020 Komen Vermont Virtual Ride for the Cure. Adult/Survivor riders (18 years +) are required to fundraise a minimum of $150 and Youth riders (ages 12-17yrs) are required to fundraise a minimum of $75. Minimum fundraising levels need to be met by October 10, 2020 (either entered online or received in our office).
Q. What is included in the registration?
A. You will get a Gift Bag (TBD), a Vermont Virtual Ride for the Cure t-shirt, and a great feeling by participating!
Q. How can I register?
A. You can register online by clicking here. You can also register offline by downloading this ride registration form and mailing it to Komen New England (memo your name/VT Ride), to: Komen New England, 1009A Depot Street, Manchester Center, VT 05255.
Q. How will I receive my Ride t-shirt and Gift Bag?
A. Shirts and gift bags will likely be mailed (riders may make arrangements for socially distanced pick up in Manchester, VT).
Q. How long is the Ride?
A. It will be up to individual riders as to how many miles are ridden.
Q. How can I become a volunteer?
A. The success of the Komen Vermont Virtual Ride for the Cure depends on the support we receive from volunteers in the months/weeks leading up to the Ride. Q. What if it rains?
A. Due to the virtual nature of this year's event, it will be up to individual riders to decide should it rain on Monday, October 12. Komen holds the right to cancel or change the date of the Ride in its sole discretion, including in the circumstance of extreme weather.
Q. What paperwork/evidence do I need to have with me on the morning of the Komen Vermont Ride for the Cure?
A. A good question! Due to the virtual nature of this year's event, it will be up to riders who may meet up with one another as to whether proof of negative Coggins test and a valid rabies certificate (within 12 months) is needed. In the interest of rider safety, helmets are recommended.
Q. Does the Komen Vermont Virtual Ride for the Cure require fundraising?
A. Yes. Adult/Survivor (18 year +) riders are required to fundraise a minimum of $150. Young Adult (12-17 years) riders are required to fundraise a minimum of $75. With no ride registration fee, it will be up to individual riders as to how they will raise their funds. We have many fundraising ideas ... just ask!
Q. Where does the money raised go?
A. Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. Funds raised help support Komen's work to save lives through breakthrough research, advocacy and to support patients, including through Komen's Breast Care Helpline, Clinical Trial Information Helpline, Treatment Assistance Program and other direct patient support services.
Q. Where do I send donations?
A. You may download a pledge/donation form here and mail the completed form with checks/money orders payable to Komen New England, memo-VT Ride (please do not send cash) to: Komen New England, VT Ride, 1009A Depot Street, Manchester Center, VT 05255.
For donations on behalf of an individual participant or a team, please include that information with your check. Checks should include the memo: Vermont Ride
Q. Is there a deadline for fundraising?
A. Minimum fundraising levels are to be met by October 10, 2020 (enter lonline or received in our office). All donations on your behalf that are received by October 10th, 2020 will be credited to your fundraising total for prize level awards. Donations received after Oct.10 will count towards your fundraising goal, but not fundraising prizes.
Q. Are there fundraising prizes? When will I receive my fundraising incentives?
A. Yes. Prizes will be awarded to the top fundraiser, as well as those raising $500 or more. Your fundraising prizes are calculated based on the total fundraising dollars you have raised/collected as of October 10th. Prizes will be announced online on the day of the Ride. Prizes are not cumulative. Prizes will be mailed following the Vermont Virtual Ride event day, Oct. 12.
